Miniature Bulldog "Butch I"
|
This powder jar has a seated mini bulldog finial. It was produced by the L. E. Smith Glass Company of Mt. Pleasant, Pennsylvania The base is a smaller version of the one used with the "Mother Elephant with Babies" jar. It has two bands of stippling separated by a smooth central band and measures 4.25" in diameter. This stippling on the lid matches the stippling found on the base. The lid of this jar still has an original Wrisley label. Other miniature finials available on this shape jar include a German shepherd, and an elephant with its trunk down. This style miniature bulldog final has also been found on a crystal satin jar called "Butch II" pictured in this section of powder jars..
