"Parakeets" Powder Jar

This powder jar has a finial which consists of two parakeet-like birds. These birds have long tails and short curved beaks. This jar is usually found in crystal satin but is also known in milk. Crystal versions of this jar are sometimes found with a heavy gold encrusted coating or a fancy enamel decoration like the one pictured next. This is a variation of that jar that has a black straight-sided base without floral embossing. The lid to this jar with the black base is a heavy embossed metal with gold decoration. This jar has a gold leaf original label that reads: ÒREARETA CORP. NEW YORK-PARIS.Ó
