The DeVilbiss Manufacturing Company
The DeVilbiss Manufacturing Company was a hand decorating and finishing company that was in operation in Toledo, Ohio from the early 1900's through the mid 1950's. They are most noted for their unique designs of atomizer fittings for perfume and toilet water bottles. Glass blanks were purchased from many leading glass houses for the purpose of decorating with enamel and gold. Many items are signed with the script "DeVilbiss" name on the bottom. However, some items were only sold with paper labels. Most of these labels were destroyed through use and identifying unsigned items requires studying the unique characteristics of the hardware. Many times, perfumizers and perfume droppers were available as matched sets. Sometimes other matching accessory pieces such as puff boxes, pin trays and larger dresser trays were also available. The early intricately designed atomizers and perfume bottles from the late 1920's and early 1930's are eagerly collected today.

Some of the Information for this brief history came from the book "Bedroom and Bathroom Glassware of the Depression Years" by Margaret & Kenn Whitmyer.
