"German Sedan" Covered Box
GermanSedanpksatThis large satin glass German auto coverd box has three windows and a door on each side. It also has a rear window. The cars are satin, but on some models, the windows and the lid to the passenger compartment are transparent. The front end has a radiator grill and headlights, and there is a louvered air vent on each side of the hood. The chassis is supported by two metal axles which fit into tabs on the underside of the body. The axles have metal wheels with solid white rubber tires, much like those found on toy cars and trucks from the 1920's and 1930's. The passenger compartment of the vehicle is covered with a removable glass lid. The hood area is another compartment that is covered with a smaller second lid. The underside of the body is marked, "D.R.G.M., Nr. 1068431" and has the trademark of the Saxony Glass Company, which is a crown enclosed in a circle with a cross at the top center of the crown and the letters "S" and "G" inside the crown. This car is also marked "MADE IN GERMANY." The car measures 3.5" wide by 7.75" long by 4" high.
