"Ballerina I" Powder Jar
Ballerina_I_cry_satThe "Ballerina I" powder jar pictured here is wearing an oval ruffled tutu. Her hands are crossed and resting on her chest. According to patent information, this jar was designed in 1930 by Milton Sierad of New York. It was designed as a face powder container, and the rights to the design were assigned to the George W. Button Corporation of New York. This jar is 8.25" tall. The known colors are crystal satin, green satin and pink satin. Another similar powder jar, "Ballerina II," may be found. This jar is similar to the one pictured here, except the arms of the figure are extended outward. See the following photos for examples of "Ballerina II."
