Jeannette "Mama Quack" Powder Jar
|
This duck covered box was made by the Jeannette Glass Company from 1941 through the early 1950's. It is usually seen in crystal, but will also be found in flashed-on iridescent marigold. This jar was also sampled in Shell Pink milk glass during the 1950's and a rare example is shown in this photo. Notice the retooling of the Shell Pink jar. Feather detail has been added to the top and selected areas of the base of this jar. Both crystal and iridescent ducks were sometimes decorated with hand painted eyes and bills. This large 6" long crystal duck, fondly called "Mama Quack" by collectors, often came packaged with bubble bath for ladies and shaving soap for men.
