Maddux of California
Maddux Pottery was established in 1938 in Los Angeles, California along the Southern Pacific Railroad tracks. This company began its production by distributing items such as figurines, planters and giftware items. They are probably best known in the collector market for their cookie jars. Maddux of California existed as a company that produced its own merchandise. Included were console sets and novelty items on a very large scale. In 1947 the plant was producing 120,000 pieces of ware a year. Maddux continued to produce pottery gift shop items and novelties until 1974 when the company was sold to Rinor Marketing. At this point Maddux of California became a seller of merchadise and no longer produced their ceramic products. Maddux of California closed its doors and ceased to sell items in 1980.
