Heisey Patterns
|
Ipswich - (1931-1946) (Crystal, Flamingo(pink), Moongleam (green), Sahara (yellow), Alexandrite, Cobalt) Ipswich is an attractive pattern with a variety of pieces. The largest plate is only 8 1/2," but because of the square styling it is large enough to use as a dinner plate. This lovely swirled pattern was produced in 5 stunning colors as well as in crystal. Some pieces of this pattern were made with round bases and square bases. The pattern is both stylized and elegant which makes it an obvious choice for many collectors who want an elegant glass pattern with that Deco look.

Old Colony - (1930-1939) (Alexandrite, amber, crystal, Flamingo (pink), Marigold, Moongleam (green), Sahara (yellow) Old Colony is an early Heisey Pattern. It came in all the colors listed above, but Sahara is the most commonly found color. This beautiful pattern features a stylized floral design around the edge of pieces. Flat dinnerware pieces may me found in a square in shape and will have the pattern at each corner. For those who prefer a rounder shape this pattern is also found on a round Heisey Empress blank.

Orchid - (1940-1957) Orchid is probably the most collected etched Heisey Pattern. This pattern can be found on many Heisey blanks, but the two most common are Queen Ann and Waverly blanks. This pattern is one of the most popular of all the orchid etchings of this time period.

Plantation - (1948-1957) Plantation pieces are identified by the embossed pineapple their design. There is a complete dinnerware line with loads of accessories. This pattern is found both blank and with numerous etchings and cuttings. Usually found with a pineapple finial, pieces of plantation can occasionally be found with sterling silver finials or bases. These candies and serving pieces can be used to accompany your favorite china patterns for those of you who love the pattern, but do not want a complete set.

Pleat and Panel #1170 - (1926) (crystal, Flamingo, Moongleam, Amber) Pleat and Panel is an attractive Heisey pattern. Most pieces are moderately priced. This lovely deco pattern has a variety of serving pieces which makes it fun to collect. It can be easily found in both pink and green and a good size set can be obtained without breaking ones pocket book. Dinner plates are somewhat pricey but are not necessary if your desire is to only use accessory pieces for accent. Although it is quite stylish, this pattern is simple enough to be used with a set of fine china.

Renaissance - A beautiful etching of a winged boy with draped urns. This lovely Heisey pattern is very similar to the Morgantown etching "Morgan".

Rose - This beautiful pattern is an etching consisting of long stemmed roses. It is a full service dinnerware pattern and one of the largest etched sets that Heisey produced. The Rose pattern is found on quite a few of the Heisey blanks. Heisey Rose stems are easily told from other Rose patterned stemware by the rosebud incorporated into the stem design. There are well over 150 different pieces in this set, so the size of your collection will be limited only by your sense of style, or you pocketbook.

Spanish #3404- (1933-1946) (Amber, Cobalt, Crystal,Sahara,Tangerine bowls all with crystal stems) (Expermental Colors include-- Light Blue with Crystal stem, Crystal with Light Blue Stem). Spanish has been found with Heisey etchings and with etchings applied by other companies.
Spanish is one of Heisey's most popular stemware patterns. There are 11 sizes of Spanish stemware. Spanish Stemware is always marked with the diamond H on the stem near the base. While primarly a stemware pattern a compote is also available. When collecting Tangerine one needs to be aware that the hue of the Tangerine color varies a great deal, so when buying on the internet be sure to contact your dealer before purchasing pieces to try to establish color.
